Frances Lake Wilderness Lodge - one of Yukon's premier wilderness getaways - is situated in beautiful southeastern Yukon on a secluded lake nestled in the northern foothills of Canada's famed Rocky Mountains. Accessible only by water or air, the lodge offers a true respite from traffic, computers, headlines, and other stresses of modern-day life. Flora and fauna abound and the surrounding wilderness teems with wildlife invites exploration. Open summers and winters, Frances Lake Wilderness Lodge provides unparalleled opportunities for fishing, canoeing, hiking, wildlife viewing, photography, snowshoeing, and aurora viewing, Whether you stay close to the lodge or venture farther afield, your visit to Frances Lake will seduce your senses, rejuvenate your body, invigorate your spirit, and nourish your soul.
The lodge consists of the main log cabin and five lovingly-crafted log guest cabins. Meals are served in the main lodge—where our chef will gladly prepare your catch for dinner—and guests are welcome anytime to peruse the many northern books in the library or simply relax in the bright, cozy living room. Guest cabins strike the perfect balance between rustic pleasures and modern comforts: wood stoves and kerosene lamps provide heat and light the old-fashioned way, yet each cabin is equipped with portable flush toilets and comfortable beds with fresh linen and warm quilts. All guest cabins afford beautiful lake views and are within easy walking distance of the main lodge. Guests—and there are only a few at a time—also have access to a hot shower and a four-person wood-heated sauna, located in a separate log building.
Frances Lake Wilderness Lodge & Tours offers great escapes, interesting nature tours, dogsledding and wilderness excursions at our secluded location in the Yukon's southeast region. The Altherrs offer a variety of all-inclusive packages ranging from lodge-based getaways to guided, multi-day excursions that explore the waterways and backcountry of the highly scenic Frances Lake area. Canoe enthusiasts appreciate the opportunity to explore waterways that are rarely explored by other people with vista after vista of mountains, forests, lakes and rivers, as nature intended them. |
