Charming fishing villages, spectacular sunsets, pounding surf and rugged cliffs characterize the southern shores of New Brunswick along the Bay of Fundy, whose mile-high tides, the highest in the world, separate the province from the state of Maine in the USA below. Twice a day, fishing boats are becalmed as the tide rushes away, leaving them stranded on the sand until the tide comes in.

Grand Manan Island across the water is an idyllic get-away piece of land with one main road, a tiny post office, and several country bed-and-breakfast inns.

To the east, the centerpiece is the St. John River Valley, where the St. John River, often called the American Rhine, cuts a long, wide swatch of an incredible cobalt blue through the green farmlands, reflecting the sky with the intensity of washable blue ink.

Black Spruce Lodge is situated on the Little Sou’ West Miramichi River in beautiful New Brunswick, Canada. From a lazy tube ride down the river to guided fly-fishing, hunting and more, Black Spruce Lodge has something for every outdoor enthusiast. Black Spruce Lodge is situated on 15 acres with 500 feet on the beautiful Little Sou West Miramichi River. Carl and Janice, your hosts, offer warm Maritime hospitality coupled with a wealth of Eco-tourism, outfitting and outdoor knowledge and experience.  Together with their team of qualified outfitters and guides they will create an unforgettable adventure.

Newly renovated in 2005, Black Spruce Lodge sleeps 6+ comfortably and offers full kitchen facilities. There is also a 3D archery and 3 hole golf course on site. The Lodge can be your exclusive and private destination, or let us take care of your every need.

Upper Oxbow Outdoor Adventures

Adventures steeped in tradition await you at Upper Oxbow Outdoor Adventures. Situated on the family homestead, we took up residence on the banks of the Little Southwest Miramichi in 1823 where we have been stewards of the river for five generations.
Your cabin on the hillside overlooking the river bids you welcome. We are pleased to boast our four star Canada Select rating. Step inside and cuddle up to an airtight wood stove. The cabins have all the luxuries of home away from home living with full amenities. The Main Lodge has a comfortable living area with a fireplace to warm your toes on those cooler evenings.

Leave the camps and leisurely kayak the river to the tide water to check out the ruins of docks, where the once famous paddle boats tied up when they brought supplies and mail from town. Play among the old lumbering blocks that held thousands of logs during the river drives. Stop on a sandy island and swim before basking in the sun and eating lunch.
We offer guided canoeing trips through the back woods or should you not want to paddle, we can arrange for your guide to drop you down the river using the age old art of poling. The only concern on your mind will be is your camera in focus and are you quick enough to snap a shot of the salmon jumping or the birds soaring overhead. Come hiking with us and explore rocky gorges, listen to the soothing sounds of the water falls, eat lunch by the water. Perhaps some moose birds will come to visit, hoping that you will toss them some bread crumbs. Then, return to your cabin after an exhilarating day to put your feet up and relax.

Visit Kouchibouguac National Park where miles of sandy beaches wait. For bird watchers, the park is home to the second largest bird colony in North America as well as many other water fowl. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you pass through small fishing villages where the boats are coming in with their catches. Delve into delicious seafood, fresh from the ocean. Whether you are looking for peace and solitude or planning a family vacation, Upper Oxbow Outdoor Adventures can help meet your needs.
