Fortress Lake is situated in Hamber Provincial Park adjacent to Jasper National Park approximately 100 air miles north of Banff, Alberta. The lake is 7 miles long at an elevation of 4,384 feet above sea level and is surrounded by mountains and high icefields.
The lake is teeming with wild stocks of Eastern Brook Trout. The trout can be caught by either fly or spin casting. For other guests canoeing on the lake, photography, wildlife observation or hiking are of more interest. A variety of hiking trails exist from easy shoreline strolls to more rigorous routes to the high alpine areas.

The cook produces old-fashioned home cooked meals worthy of your grandmother's praise. You can expect a piping hot breakfast and dinner, each with enough components to satisfy the quirkiest appetite. After breakfast we present guests with a lunch buffet. This allows you to pack a picnic for your daily outings.

Guest accommodation is in separate cabins and includes all meals and use of fishing boats or canoes on the lake. We accommodate just 12 guests, in six very quaint and comfortable private cabins, far from the maddening crowds. Each of our guest units consist of a very cozy wood heated 14 X 16 foot framed cabin, nicely paneled in tongue and groove pine. Canvas is then stretched over the frame giving the cabin an appropriately rustic backcountry appearance.
